Today our travels have us heading into Yorktown to meet up with family.  As mentioned in an earlier email, my cousin's husband passed and the memorial service will be on 8/29.  So this week will be spent with family lending our support and reminiscing about one standup guy, "Gentle" Ben Hancock.

August 31 - Yorktown, VA to Mullens, WV

Sadly it's time for us to move on.  We really enjoyed our time with family and will forever miss our cousin and friend, Ben Hancock.  So today our travels have us heading back into West Virginia to Twin Falls State Park.

Saw these turkeys hanging out on the golf course on our way in.

September 1 - Mullens, WV area

First on the agenda for today -- golfing.  And low and behold, I'm talking to these gentleman allowing us to tee off before them (because they had such a large group) only to find out that he had been in Texas City just the week before.  He was a union rep for the railroad workers.  Go figure!!  HaHa!

Beautiful shots of the golf course.
 Deer grazing on the course.
So the story here is...I'm walking across this bridge to the green and freaked out thinking I just saw a snake.  So Larry checks it out only to find out it's the ugliest turtle I've ever seen.
This is why I thought it was a snake!!

 Little covered golf bridge

After golfing and lunch we took a short hike to the Living History Farm dating back to the 1830's on the state park property.

Next we headed out to find the "Twin Falls."  In case you needed a hiking stick these were just propped up against the tree for your use then you put them back.  How neat!
Very disappointing "Twin Falls."  Probably the time of year.

Till next week...
